Surprisingly (at least it's a surprise to me), I have been asked several times about my genealogy. "Lauzon" is not a common name and it's assumed that if we share a name, we must be related. Well, we probably are, but not closely. Keep in mind that I am not a genealogy expert and that my family is not what you would call "close knit". So there is alot of information that I don't know. The oldest relative that I know with the "Lauzon" name is my great-grandfather - Joseph Lauzon. All I know of him is that he lived most of his life in Gladstone, MI (that's in da U.P. of Michigan). Joe had lots of kids but I have only met 3 of them: My grandfather - "John the Baptiste" Arthur Lauzon, and his two brothers. My grandfather had his name changed to drop the "John the Baptiste" part and lived in Escanaba, MI, all his life. Of his brother's I know very little. One lived in St. Clair Shores, MI, and the other lived near Owensboro, KY. It's been a very long time since I've see or heard from any of these relatives. But my parents keep in touch with them. My grandfather had 3 kids: My dad - Richard, Michael and Mary-Margaret ("Snooky"). Uncle Mike still lives in Escanaba and has 2 kids: Lacey and Jeff. I know Lacy and Jeff don't live in Escanaba anymore, but I'm unsure where they are now. I belive that Jeff is in college in the eastern U.S. and Lacey is in mid/southern Michigan. Aunt Snooky hasn't been in contact with us for many years. My dad moved to Highland, MI, and later to Milford, MI. Both towns are on the east side of Michigan. I have 2 brothers: Rob and Mark. Rob is a teacher in the Bloomfield area and Mark works in advertising in the Detroit area. We all grew up in Milford. I am the first one of my family to live in the West Michigan area. That's about all I can tell you without getting Mom to dig out the genealogy documentation that she has. I can tell you that I am not related to the "Robert Lauzon" from Fayette, MI. Also, I have never lived in Warren, MI, and the "Ron Lauzon" who lives there is not me. I have never worked for the Department of Energy. I have never lived in Canada (but I did vacation there as a kid) or California. I am not the President of the Quebec Federation of Snowmobile Clubs. I am not a race driver, grandparent, Snoqualmie Indian Tribe chair or hockey player. I took French in High School and College, but I am not fluent in French. This page is not me either. If you go to this page, you will not be sending e-mail to me. Why do I say all this? Because after talking with some friends at work, I decided to "Google" myself (i.e. do a search on my name on Google). To my surprise, there are a heck of a lot of "Ronald Lauzon"s around (especially in Canada). Take this as a warning to not assume that when you look up someone's name via a search engine that all the links actually reference that person I did get a couple flashbacks as I was looking through those links. I discovered a virus discussion that I participated in back in 1990 when I called BBSs! |
